No. Babylonstoren farm as a commercial enterprise is not an organic farm,
but rather managed according to a biological approach as far as possible. This
means that instead of routinely administering chemicals to produce a crop or
livestock, we spend our energy on creating favourable soil environments in
which plants can thrive. The idea is to farm with and not against nature.
All products we grow and treat on the farm are recommended by a registered
agent. All products used on crops are specifically approved and registered for
use on that crop. We also monitor the residues on the products according to a
programme.
We also undergo annual audits conducted by Global Gap for citrus and plums,
with very strict requirements regarding the use of chemical agents and
residue monitoring. We follow the same protocols on the other crops we
farm.
We focus on the quality and freshness of our fruit, vegetables and nuts. From
time-to-time, we buy additional fresh produce from like-minded suppliers to
supplement our fresh offering. We own our distribution network and are
proud to maintain excellent quality from farm to home.
